A vintage oil painting on canvas depicting a narrow European village street lined with tall stucco buildings and deep green shutters.

The artist uses simplified geometric forms and a muted palette of ochre, cream, brown, gray and forest green, giving the work a distinctly mid-century modern / post-impressionist character. Strong perspective draws the eye upward through the closely packed façades, while the block-like treatment of the shutters and architecture gives the painting a wonderfully graphic quality. it measures 9"H x 6¾"W

The canvas is presented in a simple narrow wooden frame that complements the understated composition. The reverse shows the original stretcher construction along with handwritten notation, although the writing is not fully legible from the photograph.

The back can be deciphered or there is additional provenance. The architecture could plausibly be French, Italian, Swiss, or another southern/central European location.
