One side displays a classic 8 × 8 checkerboard layout, while the reverse side features a 10 × 10 grid, often associated with European draughts. The rim is decorated with carved wheat and foliage motifs, symbolizing harvest and abundance. The warm wood tone and hand carved lettering give the piece wonderful rustic character. It measures approximately 9.5" D, the plate shows a rich aged patina consistent with early 20th century French kitchenware. Charming French plate decorated in deep cobalt blue with a romantic verse framed by a delicate laurel wreath. The center reads “En amour la fleur la plus belle, certainement c’est l’immortelle” (“In love the most beautiful flower is certainly the everlasting”). The decoration appears to be stenciled with a hand applied cobalt sponge style border around the rim, giving the plate a lovely rustic French country character.
