A charming framed hand colored aquatint restrike titled “Loss of the Chaplain”, after C. Loraine Smith, featuring a humorous English fox hunting mishap. The scene shows a rider fallen into the water while fellow huntsmen in red coats rush to assist, with horses and hounds gathered nearby. This piece has a visible plate mark, suggesting an intaglio printing process rather than a flat modern reproduction. It appears to be a later restrike or antique-style impression after the original early 19th-century sporting print. The paper shows age toning, creasing, and surface wear, with frame wear consistent with age. Please review photos carefully. 21" L x 17" H

Please keep in mind when buying antique and vintage items you are purchasing something that is pre-loved. Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about a particular item. Thank you
