This antique French still life oil painting on canvas, depicting an intimate arrangement of stacked books, a small copper-colored lidded vessel, and softly draped white linen resting on a dark wooden table. The artist's attention to light and shadow is particularly evident in the beautifully painted linen, where delicate brushstrokes capture the movement and texture of the fabric.
The painting bears a faint signature in the lower right corner and retains an old oval French artist-supply stamp on the reverse, with lettering believed to read “Dausse Artistique – Montpellier.” This interesting detail suggests a connection to Montpellier in southern France. IT measures 15" H x 18" W

Please keep in mind when buying antique and vintage items you are purchasing something that is pre-loved. Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about a particular item. Thank you
