A French Sarreguemines salt crock, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1890.
Made of cream-glazed faience, the crock is decorated with the handwritten word “Sel”French for salt—and features two charming applied button handles. The simple cylindrical form, warm ivory glaze and naturally aged surface give it wonderful authentic French country character. The underside retains a partially visible Sarreguemines factory mark.

Please keep in mind when buying antique and vintage items you are purchasing something that is pre-loved. Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about a particular item. Thank you
