This antique French holy water font (bénitier) features a polished green onyx cross adorned with an ornate gilt metal crucifix and decorative dark medallions.
The striking natural veining of the green onyx contrasts beautifully with the warm golden tones of the crucifix. A faceted glass holy water basin is suspended below, secured by a curved metal bracket.
Traditionally displayed near the entrance of a Catholic home or in a private prayer space, holy water fonts were used for blessing oneself with holy water. Today, these beautiful devotional objects are also appreciated for their craftsmanship, decorative appeal, and religious history. It is in antique condition with age-related patina and a small chip to the onyx, as pictured

Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final.
