An antique French wooden butter mold dating to the 19th century, featuring a deeply carved acorn and oak leaf motif within an oval rope-style border.
This unusual hinged form was designed to open around the molded butter, allowing the decorated block to be released more easily. The mold retains its original-style dark metal hinges and hardware, along with a long wooden handle.
The warm aged wood, hand-carved decoration and utilitarian construction give this piece wonderful French country and primitive character. It measures 12½"L x 5"W x 2½"D
