Antique French Blue & White Faience Plate

An antique French faience plate decorated by hand in classic cobalt blue on a creamy white ground. The center features a delicate stylized flower and leafy sprig, surrounded by a simple blue line and a rhythmic border of hand-painted geometric motifs.

The softly scalloped rim and visible irregularities in the glaze and decoration give the plate wonderful provincial character. The underside is unmarked, with remnants of an old paper label still present. 9"D
