An antique French stoneware vinegar barrel in the traditional Alsatian / Betschdorf style. The vessel is made from grey salt-glazed stoneware and decorated by hand with cobalt blue botanical and scrolling motifs. Its barrel-shaped body rests on four small feet and features a top opening for filling and a lower opening originally intended for a tap or spigot. It measures 12"W x 9" H x 7½"H
