An antique French faience butter dish by Alfred Renoleau of Angoulême, decorated with the colorful “Auvergne” bird pattern and dating to the early 20th century.
The piece is hand painted with vertical stripes, wreaths and framed bird medallions. The decoration is attributed to Gustave Genet, who created designs for the Renoleau workshop. The underside retains a faint “Auvergne” inscription together with an incised number 1, likely indicating the pattern and size.
Shows light wear consistent with age and handmade production, including minor glaze irregularities, small surface marks and slight wear to the painted decoration. Please review the photographs carefully. It measures approximately 3¾" diameter x 3½" high.

Please keep in mind when buying antique and vintage items you are purchasing something that is pre-loved. Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about a particular item. Thank you
