An antique French inkwell featuring a beautiful polished green onyx base adorned with two finely detailed gilt bronze animal figures: a playful kitten and an expressive little dog.
Dating to the late 19th century, this delightful desk accessory combines elegant craftsmanship with whimsical animal motifs. The kitten stands atop the hinged lid of a cylindrical bronze inkwell, while the little dog is captured in a lively, playful pose at the opposite end.
The translucent green onyx displays lovely natural cream-colored banding and reddish-brown veining, beautifully contrasting with the warm golden patina of the bronze figures. A recessed channel carved into the stone serves as a convenient pen rest. There is wear to the piece as shown in photos. 7¼"W x 3¼"D x 3"H

Please keep in mind when buying antique and vintage items you are purchasing something that is pre-loved. Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about a particular item. Thank you
