Antique 1849 French Gardening Book

An antique French gardening book titled Instructions pratiques sur la culture des plantes dans les appartements, sur les fenêtres et dans les petits jardins, written by Courtois-Gérard and published in Paris in 1849.

This compact horticultural guide offers practical advice for growing plants indoors, on windowsills, and in small gardens. It includes detailed black-and-white illustrations of planters, hanging baskets, gardening tools, and cultivation equipment, several signed L. Coustans.

The book features an attractive period binding with a red leather spine, gilt lettering and decoration, and marbled paper-covered boards. A lovely decorative volume for a gardener, botanical collector, or French country library.

The book shows expected wear from age, including rubbing and losses to the marbled boards, softened corners, foxing, discoloration, and minor marks to the pages. The blue ribbon marker is worn and frayed. Please review all photographs carefully.
