Bring a piece of 19th-century natural history into your home with this exquisite hand-colored lithograph, created by Édouard Traviès (artist) and Christophe Annedouche (engraver), and published by the renowned J.J. Dubochet et Compagnie in Paris.
This rare original lithograph, dating from the 1840s–1850s, depicts a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) and a Green Rosella (Platycercus caledonicus), two striking Australian parrot species, perched among lush tropical foliage.
Édouard Traviès was celebrated for his lifelike bird studies, while Annedouche’s expert engraving captured every intricate detail of the original drawing. The piece is beautifully hand-colored, with vivid tones that remain remarkably fresh. It bears the artist’s and engraver’s names and was published by J.J. Dubochet et Cie, a prestigious Parisian house known for producing some of the finest 19th-century natural history works, including Le Jardin des Plantes and Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle.

Most items show signs of age-related wear such as marks, variations of surface texture, minor scratches, and other issues associated with age. It’s what forms a part of the appearance of vintage pieces, but that’s also what makes them so unique. All sales are final.
